About Our Farm
Forsyth Homestead was started in June of 2020 after years of dreaming, wishing, hoping and praying. We are Sean and Kelsey and together we have 3 children. We are striving to provide more of our own food for our family and friends. We want to know where our food comes from and how it is being raised matters.
I (Kelsey), have always dreamed of having a small farm with all kinds of animals. Sean is in the military and we’ve moved around for the majority of our marriage. It took a few years to finally be in an area that allowed us to purchase some land and begin that dream. In those years, I began reading, researching, finding mentors and friends doing the same thing, and planning. Finally, the dream became a reality when we purchased our first homestead in Norwich, Connecticut. We started out with chickens, and quickly added a few goats. And then a few more. By the end of the year, we had a fairly large herd, a livestock dog, and big dreams for our second year.

In our second year we grew and grew, even raising 90 chickens for ourselves and other friends and people within our community. We also decided to move our entire homestead to Pennsylvania to be closer to our families and where we grew up. While we’ve been in a state of transition for a little while, we recently purchased our homestead and hopefully forever home. We have some resident Nigerian Dwarf goats, and a growing herd of KuneKune pigs and they all have made the move and settled in well here at our new homestead. We cannot wait to see where our farm goals lead us in the next few years! We love homesteading and raising animals and growing food for others as well.

Our Mission
Our mission at Forsyth Homestead is to provide quality, sustainably raised food for our family, share that food with others, and educate others within our community. We believe that raising our own food is an invaluable skill that we can not only benefit from now, but also teach our children. We believe in community support and outreach to help those goals. We believe that while raising our own food can be hard, the quality meat we receive in return is worth every cold night, every hot day, and every ounce of effort.
Meet Moxie the Farm Dog
Moxie is a Great Pyrenees and she is our working farm dog on the farm. She guards the goats, pigs, chickens and cats from predators and is a fantastic guard dog for us. You may see Moxie if you visit our farm, but we ask that you ask before petting her and respect her space at all times. We do not allow other children to interact with her because sometimes she forgets how big she is! This is for her safety and yours. Moxie absolutely loves babies, especially piglets and has been known to cuddle with them often. She is not only a great addition but an invaluable one as she has protected our animals often from all sorts of predators.
